What to Expect During Your VO2 Max Test
Preparation:
When you arrive, we will explain the test and answer any questions. You’ll be asked about your current health and fitness level to ensure safety during the test.Getting Set Up:
You'll wear comfortable exercise clothes and a specialized mask that fits snugly over your nose and mouth. This mask measures the amount of oxygen you inhale and carbon dioxide you exhale during exercise.Warm-Up:
The test begins with a brief warm-up to get your body ready.The Test:
You’ll typically perform exercise on a stationary bike, sometimes on a treadmill. The intensity will gradually increase—either the speed, incline, or resistance—pushing your cardiovascular system to work harder.Monitoring:
Throughout the test, your heart rate, breathing, and oxygen usage will be closely monitored. The goal is to determine the maximum amount of oxygen your body can utilize.Cool Down:
After reaching your maximum effort, the exercise intensity will decrease to allow you to cool down safely.Results & Discussion:
Once the test is complete, and analysis of your data will be performed and the results will be discussed with you. This information helps tailor fitness and health plans to your specific needs and goals.
